Please, do not show up to the Clubhouse (office) on dates NOT listed/posted either by email or on our Facebook Group. How old must my child be to play in WORKS Little League?
* Challengers - 4  to 18 Years Old
* T-Ball - 4 to 6 Years Old
* Rookie Division - 7 & 8 Years Old
* Minor Division - 9 & 10 Years Old
* Major Division - 11 & 12 Years Old
* Junior Division - 13 to 15 Years Old
* Girls Softball - Minor - 10 to 12 Years Old
* Girls Softball - Major - 13 to16 Years Old (WE DO NOT HAVE A SOFTBALL TEAM FOR SEASON 2023, you can contact Ozone Howard Little League)

If a child is 6 yrs old and NEVER played baseball before he/she will be placed in the T-Ball Division. If a child is 6 yrs old and HAS played in the league before they will be moved up to the Rookie division.

When can I register my child?
Registration is held during the months of October-April. Everyone who registers on time is guaranteed a space! After this date, there will be a late fee. To be notified of the start of registration, please join our Facebook group.

How can I register?

Download the Registration Form HERE, fill it out and bring it to the WORKS Little League Club House on any of the scheduled registration dates. (We will post dates on our Facebook Group)
Clubhouse Location: 84-01 Jamaica Avenue, 2nd Fl, Suite 975, Woodhaven, NY 11421.

What are the registration fees for WORKS LL and what form of payment is accepted?

Registration fee is $100, includes $75 in Raffles. (YOU WILL HAVE TO GO TO THE CLUBHOUSE TO PICKUP RAFFLE TICKETS DURING IN-PERSON REGISTRATIONS) Registration for Challenger Division is $75 per family. A late fee of $12 will be charged to anyone registering after April 2024.

We accept cash, check or money order in person. You must provide proof of your child's age (passport, birth certificate) and proof of residence (cable bill, rent or maintenance charge receipt, utility bill, etc.)

PLEASE NOTE: There is a 3.4% service fee when you register online.

What does my registration fees pay for?

Registration fee is used to cover most of the cost of player uniforms, team equipment, fields maintenance, umpires and administrative expenses, including League insurance costs, LL charter fees.

Sponsors provide additional support and underwrite the costs per player.  We will distribute uniforms at the start of the season.

Do players need to be vaccinated against COVID-19?
No, unless protocol changes. You can read more about our COVID-19 Safety Protocols HERE.

Does WORKS Little League have a Girls softball program?
Yes, we do accept girls for softball however not till the age of 10. Prior to that we recommend that the girls play regular baseball.

What is the Challenger Division? 
The Challengers Division is the Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges.

Are buddies used for the Challengers Division?
The buddies assist the Challenger players on the field, but whenever possible, encourage the players to bat and make plays by themselves. The buddy is always nearby to help when needed.

What if my child has never played before?
The fundamental goal of the Little League is to provide an environment where participants can learn and enjoy the game of baseball in an environment structured to their abilities. THIS APPLIES TO ALL DIVISIONS.

What is the schedule? What time does the games start?
Full Schedules are made up AFTER registration is over.

Games usually start:

Weeknight games start at 5:45/6PM.
Weekend games may start from 12pm - 5pm. Check the website calendar
The Challengers Division plays only on Saturdays at 9am at Pals Oval Field.
SCHEDULES DO CHANGE. Please note: Managers/Coaches cannot cancel games; only league officials can. Please make sure you or someone designated by you brings your child to practices and REMAINS with him/her. If you cannot stay for the entire practice, make sure you return on time to pick up your child. It is an inconvenience for volunteers to have to remain at the field waiting for parents.

Are parents ("fans") allowed to stay and watch all practices and games?
Yes! We encourage this. BUT parents/fans are NOT allowed in the dugout.

What days are practices?
Team practices are determined by each coach. Expect one to two practices a week (depending on coach). Please make sure you or someone designated by you brings your child to practices and REMAINS with him/her. If you cannot stay for the entire practice, make sure you return on time to pick up your child. It is an inconvenience for volunteers to have to remain at the field waiting for parents.

Does my child need to attend every game and practice?
We ask that you please try to make every effort to ensure your child attends all practices and games, particularly if your child is in an older, more competitive division.

If you know your child will miss a practice or game, please let the Coach know as far in advance as possible. In cases of illness or injury, alert the Coach as soon as you know your child will not be able to play. Please make sure you or someone designated by you brings your child to practices and REMAINS with him/her. If you cannot stay for the entire practice, make sure you return on time to pick up your child. It is an inconvenience for volunteers to have to remain at the field waiting for parents.

What is the cost for my child?  

All division - $100 - includes $75 in Raffles.
(You will have to go to the clubhouse to collect the raffle tickets during in-person registrations)
Challenger Division - $75 per family.

We also give raffles to families as a way of giving back, when you register you will get $75.00 in raffles. (PICK UP AT THE CLUBHOUSE). Sell them and keep the money. All we need are the stubs back, you do not have to be present to win prizes. As long as there is a contact number we will call the winners. Raffles will be drawn at the Opening Day Parade, (at the end of the parade once we reach the bandshell at Forest Park). PLEASE NOTE: There is a 3.4% service fee when you register online.

How long does each season last?

The spring season starts in late April and the season is usually completed at the end of June.

How can I find out if a game is cancelled due to weather?

Your Coach will send out an e-mail or text you on game day to let you know if the game has been cancelled at least 2 hours prior game time. Also, please make sure to join our Facebook group as we post updates on there as well: https://www.facebook.com/groups/WORKSLittleleague/

What are the game rules by division?
The rules differ somewhat by division. You can review the rules HERE for each division.

Does WORKS LL have a refund policy?

WORKS LL does NOT offer refunds on registration fees unless it is for a valid medical reason, supported by a doctor's note. NO refunds will be given for any reason after uniforms have been distributed. If a refund is given, processing fees are not included. It takes approximately three weeks to process a refund. Refund will be given in a form of a check, which will be mailed to you.

What documents do I need to provide if my child is a new player?

Little League of America rules require that all children provide proof of age and residency in order to play on a Little League of America chartered team.

When will we know what team my child has been assigned to?

The parent/guardian of each player will receive an e-mail, call or text from the child’s coach letting them know what team the player is on.

If you have not heard from a coach 1 week prior to the start of the season, please email [email protected] with Subject title "No Coach".

Are there codes of conduct for parents, players and volunteers?

Yes, players and volunteers are expected to behave in a manner that reflects the integrity and spirit of the league. No abusive language or profanity is allowed. Likewise, illegal drugs and/or alcohol are not allowed on the playing field or in the parks. There is no abusive physical contact with a player or volunteer. Any player or volunteer violating the code of conduct can risk suspension and/or dismissal from W.O.R.K.S Little League by the Board of Directors.

Please refer to the Parent Code of Conduct handout for specific information regarding expectations of you and your child.

What Equipment will I need to provide my child?

Parents are expected to provide:

  • A baseball/softball glove (WITH THEIR FULL NAME WRITTEN ON IT)
  • Cleats can be worn, but they are NOT REQUIRED. Cleats may only have rubber soles (no metal cleats/spikes)
  • An athletic supporter and an athletic cup if your player is a boy who is in the Majors division or above or if he is a catcher, regardless of division.

    Additionally, parents may want to consider:

  • Additional pairs of baseball pants (grey pants only) and socks
  • The League provides bats, balls, team batting helmets & catcher's gear or if you prefer that your child have his or her own (PLEASE WRITE THEIR FULL NAME ON IT).
  • You may also want to provide a bat bag for your child to carry gear, and a water bottle is a good idea.
  • Protective arm guards, sliding pants, sunglasses and eye black, which are strictly optional.
  • Thermal shirts and pants, which are recommended but not required for chilly mornings and evenings in early spring.
  • If a player brings his/her own bat it must conform to Little League bat policy and be marked with the player’s name.

Uniform:
In the Spring the League provides each player with a jersey, baseball pants, socks and a baseball cap. Players are responsible for wearing appropriate footwear---either sneakers or NON-METAL cleats. WORKS will distribute uniforms at the start of the season.

How can I volunteer?
WORKS LL is an all-volunteer organization and we ask that everyone lend a hand. As a volunteer, you should have a interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children.

Parents, take a minute to fill out the volunteer form while registering your child. If you are not a parent and would like to volunteer, take a minute to fill out the form while visiting our website or in person at our club house location. You can download and complete the 2023 Little League of America Volunteer form, which you can find by clicking HERE.

We’ll keep your request on file and contact you or feel free to email us at [email protected] with the Subject title "Volunteer" to let us know you’d like to help out or to find out more about volunteering opportunities.

Does WORKS LL perform background checks on its volunteers?

Yes. All WORKS LL volunteers who are working with kids/coaching are required to submit to an annual background check, per Little League of America regulations.

How can I become a WORKS LL coach?

You may request to become a coach at the beginning of the season by contacting [email protected] (subject title "Coach" or fill out the Volunteer form HERE.

Can a parent coach his or her child’s team?

You may volunteer to coach your child’s team and, if selected, you will be allowed to do so as long as you treat your child like any other player on the team and refrain from showing any favoritism.

How are Umpires chosen for WORKS LL?

Umpires are former players or parents.  Anyone can be an ump as long as they take the course we run. Umpires receive a stipend for each game umpired.

Are Umpires paid?

Yes, umpires receive a stipend for each game umpired.

How can I become a sponsor?

WORKS Little League is a non-profit, completely volunteer youth organization.

What roles do sponsors and contributors play?

League sponsors, team sponsors and contributors provide the bulk of our financial support. They step forward to make the League possible for our children. Their contributions help keep registration fees low. You are encouraged to patronize their businesses and thank them for their support.
